LIIAR Analysis of brief

Language- The language is the terminology used in the media. This is all the conventions of a magazine. For example it needs to include a masthead at the top left, a price and date at the right, issue number, barcode, main image (anchorage), smaller anchorage etc. This shows how the magazine will be represented. For example the language in the masthead, sell line and cover lines should all relate and have the same colour scheme. It should also include competitions/ free things to draw the audience into buying the magazine.
Institution- Is the organisation that creates the magazine. It is also who published it and what audience they are aiming to sell to and why.
Ideology- This is the ideas for the magazine, values they are trying to sell, and what it aims to promote. For a music magazine it would be trying to promote different bands or artists. It would also try to encourage us into buying tickets and posters.
Audience- This is who the magazine is going to be aimed at. What age group? Male or female? Why have these been chosen? The audience for a music magazine would have a very large audience as there is many different genres and magazines that could be addressed to different audiences. It could also be addressed to male and female.
Representation- How the individual in the advert is portrayed. For example what are they wearing and how does it relate back to the audience? How does it relate to the type of music genre and how can we tell this is a music magazine? It is also how they are being represented and what they are trying to tell us.
