Drafts!

FIRST DRAFT!

This is my first basic draft for my magazine. I've made it really simple just so I can see where everything is going to go. I am going to change the font and colour to fit the background and style of my magazine as right now it is too simple and really doesn't fit at all. I made a mistake and need to change 'enrollment' classes to 'enrichment' classes. At the top I have used the masthead title 'Wyke Now!' this implies everything you need to know about Wyke as it is happening now. I have put the issue number and date at the top right, I'm going to keep it there as It's easy to read. To the top left I have used small thumbnails to show what's going on in Wyke. I have put 'kickers' next to this so the audience get drawn into wanting to go to that page. I think my main headlines look too cramped, so I think I'm going to either just have one, or move it further to the left. I used a competition at the bottom to also try grab the readers attention as it's in block capitals. I have added a bar code at the bottom but I forgot to add the price so this will be added to my next draft. I'm happy with this first draft as even though it's simple I think It would create a good front cover as the student looks very happy and we can see Wyke and other students in the background, although the magazine looks a bit busy and empty to the left.

SECOND DRAFT!

I have changed the font and font colour to match the actual colour scheme of Wyke College. I still need to change 'Enrollment' to 'enrichment' classes. I swapped round the thumbnail images and kickers with the cover lines, I think this looks more spaced out and easier to read. I think that the thumbnails look too squashed thought still so I am going to re arrange them into the way they was in the first draft, but in this new place. I still need to add the price to the bar code, and put the Wyke logo at the top, or credit at the bottom. I am also going to change the font colours so they are easier to read. Underneath the mast head I am going to add some skylines to make it look more interesting.

THIRD DRAFT!

I have added on the price at the bottom right of my magazine which is 50p. I have changed 'enrollment' to 'enrichment' on my cover line as I made a typing error. I have chosen the font to look like this as I think it stands out and is clear. I used purple and black and purple is the main colour of Wyke so this represents the college. I have added on the Wyke logo to this draft just underneath the masthead. Next to the logo I added a skyliner which says 'education parties activities' this is to promotes the colleges educational smart way to the college, but also the fun laid back side! To Make my magazine cover less crowded I put the thumbnail pictures over lapping each other and lined the anchorage underneath. I decided on not adding to the right side of my magazine cover as I thought it would look too cluttered up, also you are able to see the library which is a large feature of the college. I am happy with this draft as I think it all fits together.
